Home Teams at Team Church are awesome! But don’t take my word for it….here are two emails we have received in the last two weeks about how great Home Teams are and how they impact lives all during the week:

Ginny McCullough wrote:

Hi Kristine,

Thanks for everything you do. I am on bed rest for the rest of my pregnancy (or at least until 32 weeks).

I wanted to share what an incredible home team we have, such a testimony of our church, the body of Christ and what it ought to look like. We are so, so thankful. The people from our Home Team quickly got the word out to our friends when I was admitted to the hospital last Tuesday. They checked on Adam while he was there in the hospital supporting me. They prayed for us, asked us what they could do, and have set up meals for us. I cannot express how much of a HUGE help this has been with my not being able to be on my feet or lift anything. Adam still has to work and not having to worry about cooking dinner every night has been a blessing to him and to us. They have come by to visit me during the days to keep my mind off the circumstances, help the day go by faster and have taken me to my doctor’s appointments (since I have to go once a week to get shots). Margaret has even offered to give me the shots at home so I don’t have to be in the car. I truly feel like they are family and they are helping contribute to the healthy birth of this little girl.

I can also say that my neighbors, parents and siblings have witnessed all of this too. I’m not sure if they are believers, so what a witness this has been to them, and I am thankful for that too!!

Just wanted to share this “praise” with you about how great Home Teams really are at TC. Please feel free to pass along. We feel so blessed beyond measure to be at Team Church!

Martin Shively Wrote: (He just got a job transfer and moved to Kentucky)

Dear Kristine,

I was nervous for Gail because with me in Kentucky the whole weight of moving would fall on her. Certain aspects of selling the house would too. And, where as she is really good about getting things done, when there are 7,359 things to do, pack or arrange… I think the best of us would get rattled. When we actually had an offer on the house she rattled off 573,847 questions. Of which I only had answers to…5… maybe! By the time we were done with that phone call I think she thought her name had been changed to,’ I don’t know’.

Enter Team Church…. Vivian Akins and Brad Tatum hit the email list and broadcast our need of bodies to help move. On Saturday….there has never been a better scenario for the saying, ‘Many hands make for light work’. Gail goes to the storage unit to finalize everything and comes back to find the whole house loaded on the truck waiting on her.

TC volunteers all followed her to the unit and got everything unloaded and it was all done. How fast did a whole house hold get moved? In UNDER an hour and half!!! Of course I was told all of this and the first thing I wondered was how bad did they really want to get read of me?! Ya’ll are unbelievable! My many thanks go out to all of you for helping.

And not just for the move either. The encouragement and support we received over the years have been incredible. The support we received through sharing about our daughter Miranda who we lost to cancer was therapeutic. Then we, fast forward, and enter again the Home Team helping us out as we go through breast cancer with Gail.

Since the doors at Team Church have been opened- we have called Team Church our home. I can confidently say for my whole family we will miss Team Church, our Home Team and all the wonderful people we have met in Team Church!

We will be using Team Church as our standard for looking for a new church here in KY. So, this is… as a simple, of a thank you, as I can give…. with a church that has meant so much to us. Thank you. Martin Shively & Family

Great job TEAM CHURCH! We get these types of emails all the time. I wanted to let you read these two that were just received. Being the Church is not just about sitting and listening to music and sermons on Sunday! Never has…Never will!

Team Church is having record numbers of kids and teenagers sign up for camp this summer! That is awesome news!

Summer Camp is one of the BEST things a kid/teenager can do for fun and also growth in their Christian faith. You have heard me say it before…..“There is nothing like summer church camp!”

One camp value we have at Team Church is that every kid/teenager who really wants to go….can go! We never want a kid/teenager not to go to camp because of financial reasons. For this reason, every year, we give out camp financial scholarships. There are some families that cannot pay the full cost of camp for their son or daughter to go. Moreover, we have some families that have multiple kids going to camp. They can afford the full cost for 1 and 2….but kids 3 and 4 are not possible at this time.

This is where you come in….

Would you be willing to give scholarship money so that a kid/teenager can go to camp? Any amount will help and will be added to all “Camp Scholarship” money that comes in. The cost of Kid’s Camp is $190 . The cost of student camp is $250. Camp Scholarship money will also go to help pay for the adult leaders who are required to be there and are also taking vacation days to attend. We never charge them full price for their service in this critical ministry.

When you give…… just mark it “Camp Scholarship” fund. All money will be reflected on your overall 2012 tax giving statement. this can be mailed in or dropped in the receiving boxes on Sunday. All money designated for “Camp Scholarship” will only be used to pay the cost of kids, students and leaders to attend camp. Camp Scholarship money must be in by June 10th so we can give to those who need it and give them time to plan for camp.

Luke 5:1-11

One day as Jesus was preaching on the shore of the Sea of Galilee, great crowds pressed in on him to listen to the word of God. 2 He noticed two empty boats at the water’s edge, for the fishermen had left them and were washing their nets. 3 Stepping into one of the boats, Jesus asked Simon, its owner, to push it out into the water. So he sat in the boat and taught the crowds from there.

4 When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Now go out where it is deeper, and let down your nets to catch some fish.”

5 “Master,” Simon replied, “we worked hard all last night and didn’t catch a thing. But if you say so, I’ll let the nets down again.” 6 And this time their nets were so full of fish they began to tear! 7 A shout for help brought their partners in the other boat, and soon both boats were filled with fish and on the verge of sinking.

8 When Simon Peter realized what had happened, he fell to his knees before Jesus and said, “Oh, Lord, please leave me—I’m too much of a sinner to be around you.” 9 For he was awestruck by the number of fish they had caught, as were the others with him. 10 His partners, James and John, the sons of Zebedee, were also amazed.

Jesus replied to Simon, “Don’t be afraid! From now on you’ll be fishing for people!” 11 And as soon as they landed, they left everything and followed Jesus.

I want to encourage all of Team Church to ask around your office or where you work and see if anyone else would like to join you. You may be surprised that their are already plans made by other Christ followers or your employer to have something organized.

If you discover that their is not something ……why do you take a risk and start something. Here is the National Day Of Prayer Website. Click on it and get going.

Also, here at Team Church, on May 3rd we will be offering two different times where the Kid’s Auditorium will be open for prayer. A staff member will be here at 6:30 am and 6:30pm. These prayer times will be a “come and go” time of prayer.

See you this Sunday…..bring a friend as we discover how to “Live In Our Inheritance!”

Great job Team Church in your prayers!

I wanted to say thanks again for joining us in a week of guided Bible Reading and Prayer. I know you will be blessed because of your participation and all of Team Church will be moved because of the power or prayer.

Friday Bible Reading: Mark 26:36-46

36 Then Jesus went with them to the olive grove called Gethsemane, and he said, “Sit here while I go over there to pray.” 37 He took Peter and Zebedee’s two sons, James and John, and he became anguished and distressed. 38 He told them, “My soul is crushed with grief to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.”

39 He went on a little farther and bowed with his face to the ground, praying, “My Father! If it is possible, let this cup of suffering be taken away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.”

40 Then he returned to the disciples and found them asleep. He said to Peter, “Couldn’t you watch with me even one hour? 41 Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak!”

42 Then Jesus left them a second time and prayed, “My Father! If this cup cannot be taken away unless I drink it, your will be done.” 43 When he returned to them again, he found them sleeping, for they couldn’t keep their eyes open.

44 So he went to pray a third time, saying the same things again. 45 Then he came to the disciples and said, “Go ahead and sleep. Have your rest. But look—the time has come. The Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. 46 Up, let’s be going. Look, my betrayer is here!”

Thursday Prayer C.H.A.T:Start of by Confessing your need for God and His grace. Then Confess your sins and receive His forgiveness. Prayer is a relational action. Going to God with a clean heart and mind will make the prayer more meaningful, impacting and make you ready to talk to God.

Take time to just mentally and physically Honor God. He is deserving of your WORSHIP! Honor him through taking time to pray. Maybe Honor him by kneeling. Maybe Honor Him my closing your eyes and focusing on Him. You can Honor Him by thinking about His grace and unconditional love for you. Honor Him by acknowledging your desperate need for Him. Honor him for being so good.

Ask Him for these things specifically as we link together this week as Team Church:

Ask God to bless our staff and give them wisdom to lead.

Ask God to encourage our staff and give them the strength to lead.

Ask God to give our staff the ability to love people and also hold them accountable.

Ask God to be with our staff in a special way as we look forward to another great Sunday.

Ask God to help our staff families feel appreciated and loved.

Thank God for hearing your prayer! Thank Him for knowing what we need before we ask. Thank Him for being marvelous, wonderful and attentive to your request. Thank Him for meeting all your needs according to His will!

Thanks for praying today. I hope you are looking forward to this Sunday and the collective and focused prayer together as a Team!

I wanted to say thanks again for joining us in a week of guided Bible Reading and Prayer. I know you will be blessed because of your participation and all of Team Church will be moved because of the power or prayer.

Thursday Bible Reading: Matthew 6:5-12

5 “When you pray, don’t be like the hypocrites who love to pray publicly on street corners and in the synagogues where everyone can see them. I tell you the truth, that is all the reward they will ever get. 6 But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private. Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.

7 “When you pray, don’t babble on and on as people of other religions do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again. 8 Don’t be like them, for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him! 9 Pray like this:

“Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy.10 May your Kingdom come soon.May your will be done on earth,as it is in heaven.11 Give us today the food we need,12 and forgive us our sins,as we have forgiven those who sin against us.”

Ask God to reveal to you what is in your life that is not pleasing to Him.

Ask God to reveal to you if you have un-forgiveness in your heart? Do you want forgiveness but are unwilling to give it out?

Ask God to give you and others at Team Church a desire to be Holy and to reach other people out of our desire for Holiness!

Ask God to give you a heart to help others come to know Him!

Thank God for hearing your prayer! Thank Him for knowing what we need before we ask. Thank Him for being marvelous, wonderful and attentive to your request. Thank Him for meeting all your needs according to His will!

Thanks for praying today. I hope you are looking forward to Tuesday and the rest of the week in collective and focused prayer together as a Team!

If you know of a TC friend who maybe does not follow the BLOG……forward this to them and challenge them to pray along with us all this week!

Thanks again for joining us in a week of guided Bible Reading and Prayer. I know you will be blessed because of your participation and all of Team Church will be moved because of the power or prayer.

Wednesday Bible Reading: 2 Chronicles 7:11-14

11 So Solomon finished the Temple of the Lord, as well as the royal palace. He completed everything he had planned to do in the construction of the Temple and the palace. 12 Then one night the Lord appeared to Solomon and said,

“I have heard your prayer and have chosen this Temple as the place for making sacrifices. 13 At times I might shut up the heavens so that no rain falls, or command grasshoppers to devour your crops, or send plagues among you. 14 Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land. 15 My eyes will be open and my ears attentive to every prayer made in this place. 16 For I have chosen this Temple and set it apart to be holy—a place where my name will be honored forever. I will always watch over it, for it is dear to my heart.

Wednesday Prayer C.H.A.T:

Start of by Confessing your need for God and His grace. Then Confess your sins and receive His forgiveness. Prayer is a relational action. Going to God with a clean heart and mind will make the prayer more meaningful, impacting and make you ready to talk to God.

Ask Him for these things specifically as we link together this week as Team Church:

Ask God to help all those who are feeling fearful at Team Church…to be comforted!

Ask God to help all those who are parents as they seek to raise their kids according to God’s values and ways.

Ask God to give peace to those who desire to be parents….but at this time have not been able to.

Ask God to give strength and wisdom to the couples who are struggling in their marriage.

Ask God to give each person at Team Church a pure since of His love and grace today.

Thank God for hearing your prayer! Thank Him for knowing what we need before we ask. Thank Him for being marvelous, wonderful and attentive to your request. Thank Him for meeting all your needs according to His will!

Thanks again for joining us in a week of guided Bible Reading and Prayer. I know you will be blessed because of your participation and all of Team Church will be moved because of the power or prayer.

Tuesday Bible Reading: James 5:13-18

13 Are any of you suffering hardships? You should pray. Are any of you happy? You should sing praises. 14 Are any of you sick? You should call for the elders of the church to come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well. And if you have committed any sins, you will be forgiven.

16 Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results. 17 Elijah was as human as we are, and yet when he prayed earnestly that no rain would fall, none fell for three and a half years! 18 Then, when he prayed again, the sky sent down rain and the earth began to yield its crops.

Tuesday Prayer C.H.A.T:

Start of by Confessing your need for God and His grace. Then Confess your sins and receive His forgiveness. Prayer is a relational action. Going to God with a clean heart and mind will make the prayer more meaningful, impacting and make you ready to talk to God.

You can Honor Him by thinking about His grace and unconditional love for you. Honor Him by acknowledging your desperate need for Him. Honor him for being so good…..Ask Him for these things specifically as we link together this week as Team Church in Prayer:

Ask God to convict, encourage and inspire Team Church people about giving to Him through their local church. Ask Him stir in people’s hearts about the command He gives to all Christians about giving of our resources.

Ask God to provide for our churches financial needs through the giving of His people here at Team Church. We have staff needs (Thom’s job) and other ministry needs that should be met through the faithful giving of TC people. Ask God to bless those who are giving so that they can continue to do His will through our church.

Thank God for hearing your prayer! Thank Him for knowing what we need before we ask. Thank Him for being marvelous, wonderful and attentive to your request. Thank Him for meeting all your needs according to His will!

This week I am going to use the power of technology via the Internet to guide the Team Church faithful BLOG readers through a week of prayer. I will BLOG every day this week inspirational daily verses and then two specific prayer request each day. I am going to ask each person who reads the BLOG to join our Staff, Lead Team and the hundreds of other Team Church Members in focused prayer. I am going to ask you to pray sometime between 4-6 pm. The BLOG is automatically sent to your email box in that time frame. So….when you get it…read the verses and then pray as I guide you on the BLOG.

Also, this week of guided and focused prayer will end this Sunday with a Team Church prayer gathering in the kids auditorium at 6pm. This will be a time for you to come and pray with others for the One Purpose of our Church and the great mission God has given us. Moreover, we as the church (that is the people) will pray for your needs too!

So….lets get started:

Monday Verse: Philippians 4:4-8

4 Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice! 5 Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon.

6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

8 And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

Monday Guided Prayer: I will Guide you through our simple prayer acronym C.H.A.T !

Start of by Confessing your need for God and His grace. Then Confess your sins and receive His forgiveness. Prayer is a relational action. Going to God with a clean heart and mind will make the prayer more meaningful, impacting and make you ready to talk to God.

Honor him for being so good…..

Ask Him for these things specifically as we link together this week as Team Church in Prayer:

Pray for the many people who accepted Jesus Christ as Savior on Easter Morning. Pray that they will use the resources and people of TC to quickly get connected and begin to grow in their new faith. Ask that they follow the leadership of the Holy Spirit and follow through with Baptism and get relationally connected here at TC so that they can be all that God has called them to be!

Pray for our Home Team leaders as they lead and guide hundreds of adults and teenagers each week. Ask God to let each Home Team leader know how needed and special they are to TC. Ask God to give each Home Team leader the wisdom to lead and pastor the people in their Home Team. Ask God to give each Home Team leader His strength as they finish the Home Team season out strong!

I don’t know about you….but I am a person who is always fidgeting with my wedding ring. I spin it around my finger, take it off at restaurants and spin it like a top on the table and the like. About 3 weeks ago, on a cool morning, I was fidgeting with it while in my room getting dressed. I did not notice it….but it fell off. A few minutes later while still in my room I noticed it was gone. I did a quick look on the carpet but did not find it.

I looked again that night and still could not find it. I went the next few days knowing it was in the room but I did not have time to really search. I finally offered my oldest son $5 if he would search every inch of the floor in my room and bathroom to find it. Of course, I forgot that he can’t find the peanut butter in the pantry when it is right in front of his face and he can’t find the belt for his pants when it is draped over his bed rail. Not sure how I thought he would find a small ring that was clearly hidden.

This past Monday I was determined to find my ring! There was no way I was buying a new one and people were starting to look at me funny after noticing my left hand. I knew it had to be under my bed and must have hit perfectly on its side and rolled toward the center of our King Size bed…. as it was clearly not in sight just a few inches from the edge. I got down on my knees and looked. It was too dark so I used my handy dandy flashlight on my IPHONE to see into the darkness. I still could not see so I shoved my shoulders further under the bed and then CRASH. I knocked the whole bed off it’s “leg-risers” that we had purchased from Bed Bath and Beyond so that we could raise our bed high enough for some extra storage space. That seemed like a real dumb idea now. The boxes under the bed were now what was holding the bed from crushing my skull. After getting my self unstuck, I had to call my son for help in lifting the box spring, mattress and metal frame up against the wall. Now….everything that was hidden was out in the light and open.

WOW…. there were boxes that had been there so long, I had no clue what was in them. There was dust! There were about one-hundred mismatched pair of my 6-year-old’s little socks that he can never find. There was dust! There was rolls of Christmas wrapping paper that I know my wife had no clue was there. There was dust! There were empty picture frames that were still longing to have a picture in them and to be hung proudly on the wall. Did I mention there was dust?

I began moving the boxes, frames, socks and wrapping paper looking for my ring! Finally, I saw the glimmer of gold shining through the dust and resting still up right against a box where it had perfectly rolled once it fell off my finger. How it got that far under the bed is still a mystery to me. But there it was…..Finally. I was glad to see that with a quick wipe of my t-shirt, my ring looked shinny and brand new.

Once I slipped the ring back on my finger I began the hour long process of moving everything so I could clean it and vacuum an area that had not seen the light of day in years. Once clean, I fixed the “leg-risers” and put the bed back together. I then placed everything but the socks back where it was until hopefully about 2016!

Here is a thought to ponder from this story:

I always use the illustration of a wedding ring as an example of what baptism is to our personal salvation. It is an outward sign of an inward commitment. Baptism does not save you no more than placing a wedding ring on your finger means you are in love and married. Moreover, if we lose our wedding ring it does not mean we are no longer married. The wedding ring is a meaningful outward sign of our marriage commitment.

When it comes to our daily Christian walk with God…..many of us may be feeling today like we are not living in His will as much as we use to. Maybe, we don’t feel as close to God as we once did. Some of us may be choosing to live a life that is so opposite of what a Christian should live…that those who see us would not even know we are a Christian.

In a sense, we are like I was for 3 weeks. We have a relational commitment…but no outward sign. No one can look at us these days and know for sure we are in love with God. If this is true of you today, here is what you can learn and then do from my story above. I will list them here in bullet point form and you will recognize the action/principal from the story. Also, in the story I made the points BOLD:

Admit you have lost your outward sign of following and loving Jesus…“Your first love!”

Admit that people around you probably notice more than you think they do.

Realize that it may not be a quick fix.

Stop thinking that someone else is responsible for what you lost.

Determine that you will “finally” do what it takes to be the person God wants you to be.

Get on your knees and pray that God will help you see what you need to see and are looking for.

Be prepared to have to do more than you were thinking you may have to do….be willing to do what it takes.

If you discover that the mess is more than you thought and the time to clean is going to take more than you thought….do it anyway.

Ask for help from others.

Be aware that “things that were hidden might be brought into the light.”

Move and clean everything that may hinder your success in living how God wants you to live!

Believe that no matter how dirty, how hidden and messy your life may be now….when you seek God’s forgiveness, grace and holiness….your life can be shined up and once again be a clean and visible sign of God’s love and faithfulness.

Proudly walk as God’s Righteousness as you know your outward life matches your inward commitment.

Matthew 5:14-16

14 “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. 15 No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.

We have an incredible Easter Service planned! It will be an engaging and inspirational service!

I am praying for you as you SHARE with your family and friends and then invite them to join you for Easter!

Follow the example of Matthew……look around and invite those who maybe don’t go to church. Maybe they would even consider themselves “bad” people or people who are “far from God” . A personal invite goes a long way!

Matthew 9:9-13

9 As Jesus was walking along, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at his tax collector’s booth. “Follow me and be my disciple,” Jesus said to him. So Matthew got up and followed him.

10 Later, Matthew invited Jesus and his disciples to his home as dinner guests, along with many tax collectors and other disreputable sinners. 11 But when the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with such sinners ?”

12 When Jesus heard this, he said, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor—sick people do.” 13 Then he added, “Now go and learn the meaning of this Scripture: ‘I want you to show mercy, not offer sacrifices.’For I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners.”

I hope that title got your attention!

I was ready in my daily devotion today the story about the Demon Possessed man who was helped by Jesus. I was struck by these verses:

Luke 8:38-40

38 The man who had been freed from the demons begged to go with him. But Jesus sent him home, saying, 39 “No, go back to your family, and tell them everything God has done for you.” So he went all through the town proclaiming the great things Jesus had done for him.

I find it interesting that after he received his new life from Jesus and then asked if he could stay with Him….that Jesus told the man not to come “hang out with me” but go and tell others what I have done for you. This man had just experienced freedom in Jesus Christ from the chains that had bound him. Of course he wanted to just sit with Jesus and hang out! However, Jesus told him to go and SHARE his freedom with others!

I think Jesus was saying and implying…..”Listen, you know what it feels like to be living a crazy life that is sinful and wrong. You also now have experienced freedom from all that! You will have time to hang out with me later…..Go SHARE what I just did! Bring your family and friends back here to meet me. They will come now that they see a difference in you!”

Have you been changed by God’s love and grace? Do you SHARE with all the people that you can about the life you use to live and how that is now completely changed by Jesus?

Do you SHARE you faith with your family and friends and then bring them to church? Hanging out at church with your Christian friends is great…..however, it would be better if you went and told all your family and friends about what Jesus has done in your life personally. Then invite them to come experience it with you on Sunday.

Will you start now and determine in your heart to invite as many people as possible to church with you on Easter.

I am convinced that you have people in your life that would be blessed if you took time to simply SHARE what Jesus has done in your life. From that…..anything is possible.

If you are thankful for your new life in Christ…..go SHARE it!

Sunday, after each service, I shared with you the conclusion of a hard and prayerful process as it pertains to our budget for the remainder of 2012. In my BLOG today I want to place in print a brief timeline and some of the details that led to this difficult decision that had to be made by our Lead Team.

I know that as Team Church members you are aware of our current struggle in meeting our monthly financial budget. We highlighted this financial challenge at the end of this past summer as low summer giving left us behind in meeting our monthly bills. Throughout the fall season we saw giving slowly increase each month from the summer…..however, not in a constant and large enough amount to sustain our monthly budget. We alerted the church that for the rest of the calendar year we would have to postpone our GO Ministry so that we could pay our own monthly bills.

In November I challenged the church to give sacrificially to our Year End Gift so that we could start the year on January 1st with all bills paid and hopefully see giving increase over the first three months of the year. Team Church came through and we hit our lofty goal. We paid off all outstanding bills and even had enough to replace the old and broken equipment that needed to be replaced as we started the New Year!

In November I also shared with the church that our Lead Team would be approving a “Lean or Skinny” budget for the first part of the year that basically only accounted for actual budget items that had to be paid each month. These are what we called “fixed cost” of our budget. (Ex: electric and gas bill, insurance, copy machine lease, printing cost, staff salary and the like.) It is the actual cost to run a church our size. This “Skinny” budget would not include ministry expenses of things we would like to do or purchase. I shared with the church that we would monitor our giving over the first three months of the New Year:

If our giving went up considerably and it could sustain a more ministry filled budget….then we would adjust in April to begin doing our GO Ministry again and other things that normally fill a church ministry budget.

If our giving did not go up over the first three months…..then we would be forced to cut some “fixed cost” from our budget and we would then live with our “Skinny” budget through June and evaluate again at that time.

As I shared yesterday, our giving has not gone up enough to be able to maintain even our “Skinny” budget per month. Moreover, our current data and past trends over the last 12 months do not suggest that things will be making any large increases of the next few months and especially as we begin to prepare for summer.

Knowing that the only fixed cost that was left and that could be cut from our budget was going to have to come from staff salaries our Lead Team began praying and analyzing all possible scenarios and possible situations back in November. Trust me, it was determined then that all choices would be painful and none was a good choice. However, if giving did not go up, it was a decision that would have to be made.

We concluded that the best choice for the church and for our ability to move forward was that we would have to cut a full time staff salary. After much prayer and analysis, we determined that if we had to let someone go that our full time Facilities Pastor role would be the best of all bad choices. We began to pray and lead the church in hopes that this would not have to happen. We also began the process of refinancing our mortgage loan with the bank in an effort to reduce monthly payment. This process is still going and we hope to have a new agreement soon.

It was determined two weeks ago that we had to move forward with telling Thom that he would no longer be able to be on our church staff. This was a hard decision because Thom has done an incredible job here and his pastor’s heart has touched so many. Knowing this, as you can imagine, our Lead Team was very sad and disappointed. Moreover, I am sure you can imagine the strain and difficulty that I personally experienced knowing that I would be the one having to let my brother go. Thom, of course, was very disappointed. To his credit, Thom has taken the news with class and continued trust in God.

We too are moving forward with complete trust in God. We also know that trimming our expenses will help us be a more financially healthy church. In turn, we will be able to move forward with the excellence in ministry and mission that is expected from God. We will choose to let this challenge be something that make us Better…Not Bitter. We will implore the Holy Spirit to make us more unified as a church under His One Purpose for our church…..and not experience disunity. As you know and have seen, great things are happening at Team Church. I pray that you will continue to be vigilant in your commitment to God through Team Church. We are not sure what the future holds….but we do know WHO holds the future!

Ephesians 3:14-21

14 When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, 15 the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth 16 I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. 17 Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. 18 And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. 19 May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

20 Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. 21 Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.

If you are not a fan of the National Football League…then you might not know that QB Tim Tebow was traded today to the New York Jets. The former Denver Broncos QB was traded because the Broncos signed Peyton Manning as their new QB!

Leave it up to GOD to strategically place one of the most popular and publicly devoted Christians in the largest city in American and the media capital of the WORLD! I am not sure why this humble, but, incredibly competitive kid from Jacksonville Florida……has caught the world by storm because of his Christian values. He is loved and hated by many because of his faith. However, I do know that over the last few years millions of people have searched the web to find out about his faith. Open expressions of prayer (Tebowing) got people talking about their own faith or lack thereof. Moreover, millions of dollars have been funneled to Christian orphanages, hospitals and schools in third world countries directly because of Tim Tebow’s public Christian passion and purposeful mission that only uses football as a platform.

Are you a little skeptical? Not sure god really cares about the publicity of QB…..

If you don’t think God can strategically guide a person with this much positive Christian influence and place them in highly influential position…..then you should go read the story of Esther, Moses, Joesph, David and other biblical characters. He did it then, has done it forever………..and could be doing it again.

What does this say about Denver?

Probably nothing.... However, this Sunday we will be continuing our Game Of Thrones message series and will look at peculiar story from the life of David….. Here is a little fun clip from this coming Sunday:

1 Samuel 26:9-11

9 But David said to Abishai, “Don’t destroy him! Who can lay a hand on the LORD’s anointed and be guiltless? 10 As surely as the LORD lives,” he said, “the LORD himself will strike him; either his time will come and he will die, or he will go into battle and perish. 11 But the LORD forbid that I should lay a hand on the LORD’s anointed!

What an amazing thing to see RIGHT NOW on our church campus: 25 kids, 3rd – 5th grade, getting ready to have a short Bible Devotion and then go running. This new group is being led by Clint Newton and Renee Murphy! This is a creative ministry that starts kids off slow and according to their personal ability…but challenges them to be able to run/walk a complete 5k by the end of the spring!

They will be training their physical bodies while they train their spiritual body too! This group is designed to get kids off the couch and away from the TV and Computer! We want to get them outside having fun while growing in their faith and being more physically fit!

I love this about Team Church! We minister to adults, teenagers and kids and help them grow in their faith in very creative ways! We believe that church is more than just a weekend experience! Being fully-devoted to God is an everyday deal! Moreover, leading all people to full-devotion means we have ministries that are more than just weekend services. This is never more true than when we are trying to lead kids and teenagers!

Great Job….”Kids On The Run!”

1 Samuel 8

1 As Samuel grew old, he appointed his sons to be judges over Israel. 2 Joel and Abijah, his oldest sons, held court in Beersheba. 3 But they were not like their father, for they were greedy for money. They accepted bribes and perverted justice.

4 Finally, all the elders of Israel met at Ramah to discuss the matter with Samuel. 5 “Look,” they told him, “you are now old, and your sons are not like you. Give us a king to judge us like all the other nations have.”

6 Samuel was displeased with their request and went to the LORD for guidance. 7 “Do everything they say to you,” the LORD replied, “for it is me they are rejecting, not you. They don’t want me to be their king any longer. 8 Ever since I brought them from Egypt they have continually abandoned me and followed other gods. And now they are giving you the same treatment. 9 Do as they ask, but solemnly warn them about the way a king will reign over them.”

10 So Samuel passed on the LORD’s warning to the people who were asking him for a king. 11 “This is how a king will reign over you,” Samuel said. “The king will draft your sons and assign them to his chariots and his charioteers, making them run before his chariots. 12 Some will be generals and captains in his army, some will be forced to plow in his fields and harvest his crops, and some will make his weapons and chariot equipment. 13 The king will take your daughters from you and force them to cook and bake and make perfumes for him. 14 He will take away the best of your fields and vineyards and olive groves and give them to his own officials. 15 He will take a tenth of your grain and your grape harvest and distribute it among his officers and attendants. 16 He will take your male and female slaves and demand the finest of your cattle and donkeys for his own use. 17 He will demand a tenth of your flocks, and you will be his slaves. 18 When that day comes, you will beg for relief from this king you are demanding, but then the LORD will not help you.”

19 But the people refused to listen to Samuel’s warning. “Even so, we still want a king,” they said. 20 “We want to be like the nations around us. Our king will judge us and lead us into battle.”

21 So Samuel repeated to the LORD what the people had said, 22 and the LORD replied, “Do as they say, and give them a king.” Then Samuel agreed and sent the people home.

This will be a series like never before! See you Sunday!
