Pirates
Did you follow the saga of the Pirates this past week? What a great day for the family and friends of the freed captain on Easter. What a great day for all law abiding citizens across the world who have been terrorized by these band of pirates.
The news early this morning says that these lawless pirates have taken 3 more ships in the last few hours. As I watch these events unfold…I think about our up coming Sunday message entitled Uncommon Accountability. In today’s world no one ever wants to take responsibility for their actions. The Pirates made a statement that because the U.S. defended themselves and brought justice to the Pirates……that America would pay. What did they expect? They expected the U.S. to pay the millions of dollars in ransom like all the other countries have done over the last few years. They learned that we are not like other countries…….
As you know, it is one thing to do something wrong. We all make mistakes… However, it is a completely different lack of character to not own up to our mistakes and then learn from it. One of the greatest problems with not having Uncommon Accountability is that you forfeit the privilege of receiving God’s forgiveness and then moving forward a better person because you have learned from your mistake.
Real Significance and Happiness in life is no longer common for people today. Therefore… not to be enjoyed by the common person. We must become Uncommon in our daily actions and attitudes.
This is never more true than when we talk about being a person with Uncommon Accountability and Responsibility.
The characteristic of heroism is its persistence. All men have wandering impulses, fits and starts of generosity. But when you have chosen your part, abide by it, and do not weakly try to reconcile yourself with the world. The heroic cannot be the common, nor the common heroic!
- Ralph Waldo Emerson
