Unique Help For Haiti

Kristine Wood who leads our Community Impact Team and our GO 2010 mission focus has been working with me in trying to find a great local way to help those in Haiti. We have found it!  A group of local Christian doctors from Ortho-Carolina are teaming up to go to Haiti this month and use their medical skills to help the wounded and maimed there.  They are going with the group from El Shaddai Ministries International.

I personally know one of the physicians, George Collins, and trust that his group will use all funds with integrity and in a manner that is best for the people in Haiti. We have committed to give an amount from our mission giving in January and February to help in Haiti.  As you know, 10% of our monthly budget goes right back out to our community in mission giving. Certain percentages of that 10% is already committed each month to places like the Matthews Help Center. Other amounts are for emergency type things like Haiti that may come up each month or for specific one time gifts like the Crisis Pregnancy Center.

We will be giving the Haiti Ortho-Relief” $1000 dollars from our January GO 2010 mission fund and hope that amount will rise from February. What we give to these organizations is based on what we as a church bring in via regular budget giving.  I love the fact that as a church we give back 10% to others in need! Great job Team Church!

If you want to know more about GO 2010 and what mission agencies will be getting our support and when….then make plans to attend our OneNite Service next Wednesday, February 10th.  Kristine Wood has done a great job organizing this effort, building teams that can Go into our community in 2010 and make a HUGE difference in the lives of many people in many different creative ways. e looking for our posters and ads about Go 2010 and how you can get involved. Some time all we can do is give money to great people like these doctors who are giving up their own time to spend 10 days in Haiti and other times you and I can roll up ourselves and get involved like we will do again at the Howell Center this spring.

We will keep you updated on the group and what they are able to do while in Haiti. They will leave on February 10th. Please start praying now for these doctors and physician assistants that are going!
